Spring at Cal Poly and SLO High

Another fun thing is getting food from Cal Poly. With a College of  Agriculture , Food and Environmental Sciences there is a lot of food being produced on Campus.  With the "learning by doing" approach this food gets produced by students.  and actually marketed on campus.  Besides fresh eggs, meat, fruits and vegetables you can also buy BBQ-sauces and vines, this picture is from a receiption organized by the international office  

Our third weekend in California and the first weekend we didn't travel anywhere. There was enough happening with the Open House at Cal Poly and after a nice week the weather forecast was rather rainy.  It started with the Farmers' market on Thursday, but this team also many student organisation had set up their booths including some of my students and also thsi drag racing-team.  Friday was the day for the newly admitted students and our departement head Colleen touring the around including the beautiful Shakespear Press museum in the basement of the Graphik Communication building, but the museum is another blog post.  Saturday was the actual open house, unfortunately very rainy... ...but stil a good opportunity to see the many things happeing on campus.  Sunday we attended a TEDx conference on campus First time Nathan came along and he enjoyed it...  With things a little more quiet it was also a good opportunity to finally shop for a Cal Poly Hoodie.  Afte...

 Did you see the solar eclipse, a few people asked us.  Yes, we actually did on Monday, April 8th and it shows how far we are behind with our blog. We will make up this week! So it was a partical eclipse and while the pictures are not perfect it was an impressive to watch it using  the devices (never, every watch directly)

On our way to go skiing in the Sierra we looked for a nice stop.  We found it with the Estrella Warbird Museum is Paso Robles.  With 4,8 out of 5 on Google-Maps we figured out it should be fun. This is a C47 actually flying Besides planes there are also cars and even historical campers More of the C47 which is the military version of the DC3 and one more point on the bucket list, once a month you can actually fly on it as a passanger.  The first flight simulator.  On the route to the Sierra with a stop at the In-N-Out-Burger Somewhere in the Central Valley.   

We were not ready to call off the skiing season so last weekend we took advantage of the fact that there was more snow.  This time we drove to China Peak (which is the name of a mountain in the Sierra Nevada). It is slightly more than 3 hours away so we stayed just outside Fresno.  This time Nathan brought the GoPro so he could so some movies.  Free water in a ski resort (on the other hand, even with the spring discount tickets are a 100$ per person) Lunch Break Spring skiing with perfect snow and nice views So far the ski resort we liked best. One our way back we stopped at the Franklin Hot Springs in Paso Robles which is one of three options to enjoy hot springs around San Luis Obispo.
