Rocket Launch

With Vandenberg Airforce Base only 40 miles away there is a good chance you can acutally watch a rocket launch in this are.

After several delays due to poor weather Monday evening was the set day. We prepared ourselves with a picknich and the beach chairs we luckily found in the house.

Avila Beach is a 10 minute drive vom San Luis Obispo.

It is a good place since the beach is facing that part of the pennisula.

Well, we are ready!

This is from the Space X-website. If you go to SpaceX - Launches you can acutally get into the steam and follow the minutes before the launch.

From Avila Beach you will be able to see the rocket right after Lift-Off.

Watching the Falcon 9 gain speed and altitude

There are several websites providing an overview of upcomming space launches: Vandenberg SFB - Space Launch Schedule and Where to Watch Space Launches in San Luis Obispo County (slocal.com)

Shortly before...

and after seperation from stage 1

If you look for the bright spot on the picture below you can actually see stage 1 shortly before landing

This is the flight pass

Overall a fun thing to watch, but not like 2 summers ago when you could barely find a spot at the beach to watch the rocket launch. They have become so common with 3-5 more launches schedule in this month.
