Carrizo Plain National Monument and Soda Lake

Saturday we went to see the Carrizo Plain National Monument

which made for a nice rountrip from San Luis Obispo

and even though it is a different world

it is still San Luis Obispo County.

This is from a small hill close to Soda Lake.

It is a Lake withou outlet

which may hold water in the wet seaon

and dry up towards the summer.

This was heading back towards Santa Maria.

Dry and hot with temperatures above 80 degrees

but as we approach the coast you can see the fog moving in with temperatures in the 50s.

In the evening we met some of the great collegues and their families at Pismo Beach for a nice fire.
