Cayaking to Point San Luis Lighthouse

A sunny afternoon without too much wind and a calm sea

allowed us to do something after school which we wanted to do for quite somtime.

We cayaked to the Point San Luis Lighthouse.

Hiking there is almost impossible since some of the area between there and Avila Beach is controlled by PGE, the friendly company operating the Diabolo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.

Theoretically they offer free hikes, but for some strange reason the links never work. Other options are golf-cart tours or going there by sea and that's what we did.

The advantage: excluive access on a Thursday afternoon and amazing views along the coast.

A scenery one could enjoy for hours

but since it was fairly cool and we had so row against the wind

we decided to head back.

We did have a nice encouter

with one the the locals

who seemed to be as curious as we were.

The pier of Port Luis once had a railway on it and in the 1920s

Standard Oil used it to ship oil from the San Joaquin Valley.

Back home, cleaning the boat and getting it ready to store it.
