Death Valley National Park

Monday was Memorial Day and the day we spent in Death Valley.

This was a nice 3 hour drive from Mammoth Mountain after skiing and we even had time to stop for some hot springs on our way.

We camped at Panamit Springs and enjoyed an evening stargazing.

which is more amazing than this picture can ever reveal.

Next morning we drove further into the National Park

with our first stop at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center.

Badwater Pool which is the lowest point the the US

was our next stop with a small hike

in 100 degrees

but it is dry heat.

From there we did the artist driver

and the we looked at some of the old mines

which are all over in the park.

It is - established in 1994 - one of the younger National Parks

but it was protected well before that.

This is on our way out a the Sand Dunes

and the final stop at Marble Canyon.

Which was a nice hike

after we were done with the dirt road.

And this is the temperature, not a very hot day for Death Valley National Park.
