Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park

We continue to work on our bucket list.

Last Friday we drove towards Kinds Canyon and Sequoia National Park

We camped just outside the National Park since it was easier with reservations and simply at a lower altitude which meant warmer nights.

Basically the consists of several inititally independet National Parks

which have grown togehter.

We started with General Grant tree, the third largest tree in the world

by volume.

Next stop was Hume Lake

which finally allowed us to use our cayak

we brought from Germany.

This is entering King's Canyon

with lots of waterfalls

and rattlesnakes (we actually saw one...)

Chrytal Cavern was closed for the season

but Boyden Cavern a decent alternative

which actually has a small river going through the cavern.

From there we drove back through the canyon formed by galciers

with lots of nice views .

We are still early in the season and some roads are still closed

and this is the snow from the previous weekend helping our food to stay cool.

This is the Sequoia part

with Sherman Tree, the largest tree in the world by volume.

More views of the sequia trees.

From there we drove to Morro (another Morro...)

Where we hiked

and enjoyed nice views.

Some of the mountains being above 12000 feet

the end of the trail to  Morro.

This is from the museum sharing background in the trees

and this is on our way back about an hour away from San Luis Obispo.
