In and around SLO IV: Hot Springs
The area around SLO has seismic activity (we experienced a minor earthquake with car alarms going off this week) and old volanoes and thus has a number of Hot Spring.
This one is Franklin Hot Spring,
close to Paso Robles and about 30 minutes away.
Basic, but fun with a big pool and lake
and a nice drive on the back roads through the vine contry.
Avila Hot Springs Avila Hot Springs is about 10 minutes away, comes also with a nice pool
and just a place to meet interesting people in the pool on the left side.
After 5pm admisson is much cheaper.
If you don't want to pay you will have to drive about an hour south to the Gaviota Hot Springs
and have to hike about 15 minutes into the state park.
Sycamore Hot SpringSycamore Hot Spring is more upscale, you get your own hut tub.
All fun places around SLO we wanted to share, but the only thing I don't buy and believe is the story about the underground "river" from Yellowstone National Park.
